Re: low priority modification to trig functions
... is a bad step onto a dangerously slippery slope. Agreed. i is also akin to an angle (it's a rotation at heart), yet nobody has yet suggested tagging it as such. Heaven forbid. BTW, I confess I have totally misunderstood the purpose of mulπ on the WP43. Suffice it to say that I'm totally happy t...

Re: low priority modification to trig functions
I agree with Pauli too, but good thinking happened also in the couple of posts subsequent to the very first one. π is for sure just a scalar value unless tagged as an angle, but just as 180 is interpreted as an angle by some functions (e.g. SIN, COS, TAN) when degrees mode is set, it makes sense to ...

Re: low priority modification to trig functions
Let's think about Mike and get serious again. Jaymos hasn't even replied yet and his subject is already ruined. I liked how the simple equation 2\pi r was able to dismantle my two page post in an entertaining way. I would not say the the subject was ruined. Indeed, any idea needs careful thought an...

Re: low priority modification to trig functions
It also means pressing \pi key followed by g [TRG] and then \Rightarrow MUL \pi will result in 1. \pi , because it knows the entry on the stack is in units of radians. Currently it interprets this as 3.1415 \pi . I understand the intuition. Especially when radians are explicitly set in the MODE men...

Re: low priority modification to trig functions
I routinely use pi for calculating areas or diameters and later multiply/divide results by sin/cos/tan of an angle in degrees. In fact, 0% of the time when I use the pi key am I referring to an angle in any units, and 0% of the time I want my calculator in radians mode. I see we've been thinking al...

It was meant to be a bare minimum of information. The "The screen" section feels unfinished, so I might rewrite that.Jaymos wrote: ↑Fri Oct 20, 2023 8:57 amThe start is H2's very brief Quick Start Guide which I think is the right length as is.
I really enjoying reading the other contributions so far - good work!

Re: C47 community wiki on Gitlab
I created some example pages on the wiki. Click the + sign behind the parent page's entry in the side menu to create child pages.
Just something to consider, if you like the idea.

Re: C47 community wiki on Gitlab
Very nice, well done!
You might write Getting started with a capital G, and maybe consider using the left menu for the TOC. It's supposed to be possible to create nested structures, e.g. under a main, top-level entry named "Getting started" or whatever you choose.

Re: C47 community wiki on Gitlab
@Thomas_ER: I created this page as a first attempt. There is a bit of content out there, and some of it may best best to link to. For instance, we have plans for the 47calc.com website which may be implemented at some later time.
