Re: Noob question: what is the keyboard on the backplate?

No dumb questions, feel free to ask.

That image is modeled from the back of the HP-41CX and adapted to the 41X larger key layout; the 41CX has many enhanced Alpha mode key assignments than the 41C/41CV.

If you've only owned 41C/41CV, you'd likely never know about these, so the question is relevant.

Re: Section 17.3.1 Flash firmware

dm_tool and dfu-util still work fine and are supported, so should be documented. And I agree the docs should note the .bin file is removed after being successfully installed; it's not harmful or anything but could cause minor confusion for a new DM user. Many users (me, among them) prefer using dm_t...

Thanks Mike, I was about to make the same suggestion, and I'll message Emy about getting this added to the manual ASAP.

Re: Problem with USB Disk

Total Commander, though an excellent product, is known to 'grab and not let go' of some drives, even when changing the active windows to other media. I've never seen a clear and reliable explanation of why it does this and under what conditions, but it has been widely reported over the years. In the...

Re: How fast is DM32?

The DM32 does not currently adjust speed based on presence of USB power, but it will in a future f/w update; once doing so, it will be much faster when connected. Don't ask how much faster, it's not yet final, but it will be similar to the increase seen in the DM42 and DM41X.

Re: HP Financial Pac - Compound Interest "Nonexistent"

Do you have USER mode on? If not, the softkeys (A..F, a..f) aren't active and then when you press [shift] [Sigma+] you're actually using Sigma- leading to the error. I just installed it into a 41X and I get the results in the manual.

Re: HP Financial Pac - Compound Interest "Nonexistent"

What SIZE do you have your 41X set to? Usually, seeing NONEXSITENT for a simple situation like this means you (or a program you are running) is trying to access a storage register which is not available because the SIZE command was not not used prior to allocate enough registers for use. In this sec...

Re: tiny timing anomaly

In the 41, RAM is "addressed" as a memory device on the bus, IIANM one-byte at a time, so this is probably showing the time accrued as it increments each byte (of the 7) within a register. Although the ARM CPU in the 41X doesn't act this way, recall it is running the original 41CX ROM unde...

Re: What is the next planned hardware release?

May I suggest the discussion on UI / Keyboard layouts, etc. move to a new thread, this has deviated from this thread's topic for days now and seems to want to continue.
