Re: Solver and Integrator: Program questions

I had hoped, that there would be an alternative implementation of the Solver/Integrator in FOCAL out there "in the wild" ... but I didn't find some, too. The solver and integrator are probably implemented in some pre-HP48 version of System RPL (SysRPL), or possibly Saturn assembly languag...

Re: 43S News

The perhaps only remaining concern might also be typographical, that these arrows don't seem to be easily represented in HTML (so that the community can contribute docs and examples), e,g, like HTML entities. The f and g do, of course. ... I just found the ↰ and ↱ HTML entities, see...

Ian Abbott wrote elsewhere: It would be nice if the WP-43S could support [Re⇄Im] on any number type, not just the complex types. There are various other functions on the CPX menu that could be changed to work on non-complex types too. What shall this function do then? What "various other funct...

Re: 43S News

I don't know about the rest of the world, but there is also "Czech notation" which is like American/English notation but replaces square brackets with angle brackets. I learnt <-π, π] (in Norway). So that's four different notations so far. ISO 80000-2 only lists the (] and ]] styles (hook...

Re: 43S News

You might also see it written as: ]-π, π], but I think (-π, π] is the more common style. Not where I learned maths :) I always learned it as ]-π, π] and had never seen (-π, π] until this discussion cropped up. I find the former notation more intuitive and indicative of its meaning. I think "]-...

Re: 43S News

ϑ ∈ (-π, π] is equivalent to -π < ϑ ≤ π. Thank you for explaining. I never knew. You might also see it written as: ]-π, π], but I think (-π, π] is the more common style. The round bracket (parenthesis), or reversed square bracket means the value given at that end of the range is excluded from the i...

Re: 43S News

5. Well, the names are similar. Thus, if you spend a prefix key [HYP] then it's a no-brainer to combine it with the trig keys. But that's all. If, however, the public would be roaring for the hyperbolics going into TRI , I might do though frowning... In a way, the normal trig functions are also exp...

Re: Benchmark Speed?

Is that a typo in your MATH benchmark data, or is the 32-bit Windows build, running in a VM, really five times faster than the 64-bit Linux build, running on the metal on the same machine? I have a Ryzen 7 2600 in the Office with native Windows 10. Tomorrow I can check Free42Windows decimal...

Re: DM42- clock losing time

I'm pretty sure the last time I set mine was sometime on 31st March (when the clocks went forward in the EU), and it is currently running 86 seconds fast after 43 days, so that's about 2 seconds per day in my case.
