Re: C47 Classic single shift, replaces C43 on DM42
No matter where I look on the screen and hold the calculator in front of me at a still comfortable distance (near, far, all gradations in between), I cannot "place" the dead spot in the field of view, which does exist, on the f-/g- sign. Left eye, right eye, both eyes open at the same time...

Re: C47 - Accessing Shifted Functions
A slightly longer answer: I don't like the fact that with the maths keys (Σ+..TAN) you can reach the f- and g- functions by long pressing. I have to pay attention to the timing and the display to trigger the desired function. So for me it is not a speed gain in operation. Pressing the shift key once...

Re: C47 - Accessing Shifted Functions
But don't ever cycle to NOP with the long press, just as is currently done with the number keys. In fact, I don't have any of the calculators at hand at the moment. But I am sure that in the NIM, when a number key is pressed, it is immediately transferred to the input and not when it is released. T...

Re: What is the next planned hardware release?
I've updated the image on the previous page. Actually, I find this a creative layout. My point is that you can operate the classic HP calculators with only one hand, with your thumb of the same hand over the keypad. If you take the calculator in both hands to operate the keys with both thumbs, the ...

Re: What is the next planned hardware release?
Discussion about the arrangement of the basic arithmetic operators: We have searched and not found the sources that provide the rationale for the arrangement of the keys of the HP-35. In any case, the 10-year phase of classical calculators from the HP-35 to the HP41C was characterised by the "c...

For Parkinson's patients, there is the S.RESET button (Secure Reset). It has been around for some time. But not yet tested by sufferers. The idea behind S.RESET is to deactivate all settings that require operation within a certain time. Well, you might have to ask a third person to perform this S.RE...

Re: C43 continuous improvement --> C47 Classic single shift, replaces C43 on DM42
These proofs of concept of the various layouts are only included in the simulator. There are currently no plans to offer these layouts for testing on the DM42. One of the main reasons is that the primary key layout is no longer identical to the DM42. You can't just work with an overlay, you would ha...

The general inverse function is .d.
The special inverse function is .ms^-1.
2°30′00″ .d gives 2.5.
2°30′00″ .ms⁻¹ gives 2.3.

Re: C43 continuous improvement --> C47 Classic single shift, replaces C43 on DM42
What is easily overlooked is that the C43/C47 (as of course the WP43 which introduced this) has a list of data types. This is a huge enhancement over the classic RPN HP calculators. The main data types are REAL, SHORTINT and LONGINT. In addition, angles are tagged with the unit of measurement. For d...
