Re: Fundamental Mathematics

Quite interesting replies so far. Claim: Pocket calculators as we know them can be seen as number crunchers calculating with whatever numbers are thrown at them. Though what is this? Rubbish? Sloppiness? Freedom?!? So what's your point? Calculators and computers have always crunched numbers this way...

Fundamental Mathematics

Claim: Pocket calculators as we know them can be seen as number crunchers calculating with whatever numbers are thrown at them. Proof: Take the famous processor check arcsin(arccos(arctan(tan(cos(sin(9°))))) and calculate inside out as we all were taught: sin (9°) returns a real number A , certainl...

Re: Case for Voyager 'L' size

Here's an example of a 17bii+ w/case listing on eBay, that has pics of the case: https://www.ebay.com/itm/HP-17bll-Financial-Calculator-Original-Storage-Case-New-Batteries/362601332479 $33 w/shipping (though in this case, only to USA). Not unusual, pretty much a closed market: America first! But th...

How about the Indian system: a comma separating the thousands, then every two digits, e.g.:

10,00,00,00,00,000 = 1 lakh crore = 1,000,000,000,000 = 1 trillion = 10^12
Know that, been there. Lakh and crore are mentioned in the manual for some years but will not be on display of the 43S.

Just for curiosity, how do you read 16-digit numbers without spaces??
I would use either a space or a comma to separate groups of 3 digits before the decimal but not after.
It may help on either side (cf. ISO 80000). A narrow space is to be used, a comma must not. Just FYI.

I take it the spaces separating groups of 3 digits after the decimal point can be removed in the formatting?
Yes, you can. OTOH, our East Asian friends can set them to separate groups of 4 digits.

Just for curiosity, how do you read 16-digit numbers without spaces??

Testing continues. Here are our statistical sums: . some_sums.PNG . Almost in real time. Format ALL 00. Just FYI. And here is the conversion of the rectangular coordinates given above (in T and Z) into polar: . R_to_P.PNG . Else you compose a complex number and convert it into polar, e.g. with the a...

Re: Case for Voyager 'L' size

I'd recommend looking for an HP-17bii+silver - it's accompanied by one of the best inexpensive cases I've experienced recently for this size of pocket calcs.
