Re: LCD burn-in?

The LCD in the DM42 is comparatively new technology from Sharp called "Memory LCD". https://www.sharpsma.com/products?sharpCategory=Memory%20LCD&p_p_parallel=0 It's designed for this and actually uses up zero power to maintain the display when the calculator is switched off. So is this display tech...

Re: [DM41] Screen tearing

It does sound similar, but I believe I observed the effect on the DM15L, too.

Does the effect go away for you when setting the speed to 48 MHz?

Re: [DM41] Screen tearing

It’s only when running a program. The stopwatch function on the DM41 is the easiest way to reproduce it.

I will consider making a video of the phenomenon within the next few days and including a link here.

Re: February run of DM-42

No, you don't need a tracking number for Informed Delivery. You register your address with the service and provide some kind of proof of residence using your name and some other identifying material, and then the USPS will proactively notify you of incoming packages even if you do not have their tra...

Re: DM1x Processor Speeds vs HP1x originals

Yes, of course. I understand that you can't compare apples to oranges the bare metal original vs the emulated processors in the SM units.

Thanks very much for the info!

Re: DM41 keypad legend separating

After letting it sit overnight in the clamp and after using the heat gun, it stayed stuck on for about an hour and then came off.

Re: February run of DM-42

I’m one time zone West of you. I ordered on Feb 1, haven’t seen it yet, but am hoping for a delivery next week. If you are having it delivered to your residential address, you might check the USPS "Informed Delivery" dashboard to see if it is incoming. It is likely that it will come through the L.A...

Re: DM41 keypad legend separating

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the reply. I did as you suggested with an adjustable heat gun and am letting the calculator sit overnight in a clamp. I'll check it in the morning.

[DM41] Screen tearing

There's a phenomenon on the DM41/L where, when in 12 MHz mode, the screen exhibits strange behavior when running something like the stopwatch. The best I can describe it is like tearing or flickering. This behavior isn't present when running in 48 MHz mode, and so I wonder if the 12 MHz mode is not ...

DM1x Processor Speeds vs HP1x originals

Either my Google foo is not up to snuff or the information isn't available, but I was wondering if anyone knows the original clock speeds of the processors HP used in their calculators. I'm mostly interested in the HP-41 with the "Coconut" processor, but info for others would be welcome, too. This i...
