Re: Accented characters in Help browser

I guess your text has the wrong text encoding format. The help viewer probably only support ANSI, so you need to convert it from UTF-8 to ANSI. I recommend Notepad++ editor for such conversions. I haven't checked this, so it could be the other way around too.

Re: Txt to Raw and Raw to Txt

Here is another old code that I dug out from Wayback Machine: Erik Ehrling's 42s2html.exe tool. I added an awk script, gawk.exe and a bat file in order to simplify the usage: raw2txt.bat "prog.raw". Currently it creates "prog.raw.txt" output file, but that can easily be changed. Because all characte...

Re: Txt to Raw and Raw to Txt

Below is the old txt2raw utility v1.0 from 2005 written in perl, which used to be linked from the Free42 site. It does not seem to handle all txt file inputs, so some adjustments are needed. Re: My Calculator DM42 ist arrived ;-)

Haha, my sloppy typing. But seriously, the viewing angle is not great with only one indoor light source, but not a problem if there is daylight. For the keys, I come from using Casios and a Canon F-789SGA calculator with extremely soft keys, which I actually like. Even the keys on my rather new HP-1...

Re: My Calculator DM42 ist arrived ;-)

Mine arrived today! Almost gave up hope to get it for Christmas. Pouch fits fine. Keys are good but could be softer for my taste, but consistent. Only Enter need a slightly firmer press. Screen is fine but requires a well lit environment to shine. View angel not the greatest but ok in good light. Ha...

Re: DM42 release date please...

Was there any Norwegian company making calculators at any time??
I don't think so. The only computer adventure of some scale here was Norsk Data (ND) in the eighties https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norsk_Data

edit sorry too late...

Re: DM42 release date please...

In Norway we basically only pay duty on clothes and food, but we have a whopping 25% VAT when buying for more than $42 incl. shipping. Often it slips through customs though, so I am hoping...

Re: DM42 release date please...

Just curious, but what serial number do these first public units start with? Are they engraved or just a sticker?

Re: DM42 release date please...

While we wait, here is a text searchable version of the hp-42s pdf manual with full chapter bookmarks that I prepared a few years back. You can get the original at hp41.net.
