Re: Short and Sweet Math Challenge #1

For equation 6, My HP-35S on Fix 1 comes up with .4 (displaying more digits shows that the “.4” was >.44). The answer was nearly immediate. On fix 2, it takes awhile ( perhaps ~3 minutes), and reports .39 (displaying more digits shows the “.39” was >.3927). The answers fell within the estimated erro...

Re: Missing functions in WP34S mode

The 2 functions went missing after an unexpected crash of my DM 42. I found the functions in PGM.FCN as Walter suggested, and successfully implemented them! I will try to reload the latest version in the near future. I would be tempted to try the 43, but I have a dark spot on the lower right of the ...

Missing functions in WP34S mode

I had the DM 42 crash recently. I had not backed it up, and my several programs were gone. When trying to recreate my programs, I find that the shifted line of the integral menu is not there, and I cannot find the f’(x) and f”(x) operations. Is there a way to recover these functions? If not, perhaps...

Re: May 2021

Trying to deal with where to find functions on my WP-34S on my DM42 platform is too much, even with the cheat card of where to find things. I am going to revert it back to a DM 42!

Re: WP34S for the DM42

Somewhere, I think I read that the epsilon should be about 3root of number of digits utilized by calculator...I chose 1E-6. The extremum was found accurate to all 16 digits!

Re: WP34S for the DM42

Hi Nigel,

I’m having difficulty typing/finding the symbol delta x or delta Greek d, even outside of a program. How do I find these characters? Do I call the program (symbol)delta (Greek) d? How do I type the delta (symbol) d (Greek character) into the label command?

Re: WP34S for the DM42

Hi Walter, I bought your earlier 211 page manual when I got the HP 30b flashed to the WP 34S years ago! Do you know if the epsilon was discussed in that manual (and where)? Otherwise, can you tell me how to get to the epsilon so that I can change it to a much smaller value? Your work is quite remark...

Re: WP34S for the DM42

Hi Nigel, I was trying to use SLV f’(x)’F0’ with my F(0) program of the function x/(2x+1)^3 to find an extremum. An extremum is at .25, but my unit is coming up with .2520. My physical WP 34S (repurposed HP 30b) comes up with the correct .25 Is it possible that I need to specify a small epsilon (and...
