Re: buttons that don't register well

And you are happy with all that? IMHO SM's keyboard is far from acceptable for otherwise brilliant calculator. The combination between keys layer and registering board (domes) does not work well. If further development finds working solution I'd gladly pay for replacement of both. Currently DM42 is...

Re: buttons that don't register well

Got my calculator back today. So far so good, it feels much improved. The keys feel much more consistent across the board and basically all have an acceptable tactile click. The 0 . and R/S are still a little weaker than the rest, but I think they've improved. The +, which I was most bummed about, i...

Re: buttons that don't register well

Haha, will do. It should end up at SM around May 7th.

5/5 ETA: On it's way back from SM :D

Re: buttons that don't register well

I'm sorry for this. Finally we nailed the problem with the ENTER button. The unequal tactile feedback is caused by the upwards bent ABS housing. Once the calculator is taken apart and warmed up a little, it can be bent back which should solve the issue. Please give it a try. Otherwise you can send ...

Re: buttons that don't register well

Wow, good catch. Looking at my DM42, I suspect this bend is what I've been calling the "bulge caused by the beeper". Looking forward to the video.

Re: buttons that don't register well

And QUIET mode which is a(nother?) GUI setting that controls F26....

But I agree with Walter, I think this is pretty far off the topic of keyboard problems.

Re: buttons that don't register well

On my DM42, the speaker absolutely contacts the metal back. In fact, I would say it is THE main contact point, and it is absolutely responsible for depressing the top portion of the PCB when fully assembled. This is tied to a nitpick of mine. It doesn't have enough room to do so (maybe the LCD ledge...

Re: buttons that don't register well

You know what they say about great minds....;) I was working a little on this idea after my post yesterday. I didn't have a rigid enough material to act as a washer, so that specific idea remains to be tested and I'd be curious to hear if anyone does. Instead, I tried the opposite, stacking up some ...

Re: buttons that don't register well

I just took a closer look at things because the bulging of the case caused by the beeper, which leaves the bottom left corner loose, has continued to bother me. I am now of the opinion that it is the domes themselves that are inconsistent. This has been mentioned elsewhere by some people including o...

Re: buttons that don't register well

I just tried sanding off the PCB sprue and pressing the PCB downward from the top edge while tightening. It didn't make a noticeable difference. Aside, I think I read someone suggesting aligning the PCB by holding onto the beeper. Be careful...the adhesive connecting it to the PCB is not too strong ...
