Re: Troubled waters

Of course I won't make a confusion between calcs and phones, but I hope business rules differs enough from smartphone market, so that we don't depend on some custom ROM to implement Thomas Okken's bugfixes in the future, when a new flagship calc steals all attention and all the love from SM team (uh...

Re: Troubled waters

Getting the source code (and the tooling) and being able to rebuild a flashable binary seems mandatory at some point. - My biggest fear being that at some point SM could stop supporting the DM42 fw, while Free42 would still continue to be fixed. SM does a great job at this time to provide firmware ...

Re: ON and off (images)

A big "+1" for the "print to file" request. To me it's a great addition in Free42 that would be very nice to have in DM42 as well. Of course it involves thinking twice because of flash wear, but I would guess that such file would be stored as a object in RAM, and the user would have the option to pr...

Re: Constants

I'm not sure many have had the chance to see my post in another thread https://forum.swissmicros.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=280&p=4528#p452 about extending the help viewer as a very convenient constants library (with description, units, greek symbols...), supporting a copy-to-keyboard function to expo...

Re: My dream DM42 display layout

As a Norman, all this makes a lot of sense to me :-) [William the Conqueror being one of the heroes of my young years, as I was born not so far from his castle of Falaise]. Maybe that's the reason while I always liked to learn english... there's a clear connection. That said : yes the option to alte...

Re: My dream DM42 display layout

Hans, I agree that english might not be as easy as it seems. I'm not fluent in english (my current level satisfy my needs : speaking with my german colleages & reading mostly technical & historical books). I probably would have hard times trying to access superior levels (Hello Shakespeare !). Frenc...

Re: My dream DM42 display layout

May I object that we french actually use "un navire" "un bateau" "un porte-avions" which is a solid "he" :-). But we also have "une embarcation", a more generic term, which is in turn is a "she". All those variant for basically a boat, with both genders "fully supported". Our language is lovely but ...

Re: A couple additional functions that would be cool to have

My tiny contribution to this thread : Wouldn't it be nice to have an HTML file containing some constants library ( value, description...) and some copy-to-kbd-buffer mechanism in the DM42 help viewer ?, We would get the constant value in the X register upon selection in the HTML file. This would all...
