Re: Why was Stainless Steel used for the DM42?

My less than two cents humble opinion here... A metal back cover had to be used in this design because: 1. The way the back cover is joined to the front cover requires a material with enough strength to cope with the force applied to it when opening and closing the calculator. A plastic cover would ...

Re: Tribute to Stephen Hawking

it was a shock to ear the tv news this morning.
Somehow I realized what I always knew - we are not eternal, but for the famous ones I always assumed they would live forever.
RIP.

Re: 82240B AC adapter?

I'm using an adapter that provides 12 VDC at 2 amps. It came from an old external hard drive setup. Prints forever with no batteries. Absolutely right. No batteries needed when using the external power adapter. Why? Because the 6VDC battery cells are connected in parallel with the internal power su...

Re: Try searching for "help file" and "qspi". Not so easy...

That is why I tend to use google for searching things in the net, like this:
help file qspi site:forum.swissmicros.com

I got just 5 answers using the above search string, but got 7 if looking only for qspi, and 26 if looking for help file.

Re: Keyboard debouncing

Does this make sense? Yes it does to me. My experience in the field is the same. Hardware design specs only exists in paper. Implementation involves tolerances that may or may not being violated on some production batches or even single units. This introduces "hardware bugs" that in many cases can ...

Re: Battery life

Is the average current consumption published by SwissMicros?
I'm not saying it is not advertised somewhere but I couldn't find it.
Publishing hardware related specifications officially like Casio and others do would help to understand the calculator expected behavior.

Re: DM42 Firmware V3.2 available

What are the consequences of the lower level of code optimization? Is it slower, larger file sizes, or something else? Also: what exactly are the before and after optimization settings, and does this apply to compiling Free42, the DM42 OS, or both? I have been reading the STM application notes, and...

Re: Does the DM42 have a total of 2 Chips?

While i understand that these questions may sound useless to some of you that already have a DM42, probably the more information is available for the rest of the other mortal people, like myself, the more chances are that SwissMicros see its sales increasing. I wish you all a Happy New Year full of ...

Re: What city or town is the DM-42 made??

I am assuming they are made in Switzerland, but I do not see a "made in" anywhere on the outside or in any info received ..maybe it says "made in..." on the inside somewhere I do not know. That is odd. Most countries proudly put stickers showing its origins. Probably there is a law in Switzerland a...
