Re: Things to improve on the hardware

Hi, I would add - a small capacitor in parallel to the battery to avoid program loss in case of dropping the calculator on a hard surface accidentally. It happens to me. These drops disconnect the battery for a very short time from one of its contacts and without power the RAM is cleared (and maybe ...

Re: Incongruity of the PIXEL function

Hi,

is there a way to have the flags 34/35 settings not only for AGRAPH but also for PIXEL?

Cheers

Re: DM42 License Statement

Hi all, hi Vitali,

yes, without a sufficient description how to talk to the closed source "black box
the ways of improving the firmware are very limited.

Cheers!

Hi Logan,

Enthusiasm is one of the greatest contributions one could give.

Only my two cents, your mileage may vary...

Re: Question about "what goes where" while flashing firmware

Where do the files of the pattern DM42-<m>.<n>.<o>.pgm go...?? These are -- as far I understood the split -- the parts containing Free42 and therefore the most changed once...? They get written to some Flash memory by the DMCP "Load Program" code (which is in also in Flash memory). The code might c...

Question about "what goes where" while flashing firmware

Hi, as now all interested hobbyist are able to build and flash their very own firmware for the DM42, flashing will become a more common task...and with that the write cycles and the wear-out of the flash memory will increase. The serial eeprom is somehow replaceable, because Michael and David carefu...

Re: DM42 License Statement

Hi, short intermezzo: I flashed both firmware files to my DM42...works flawlessly with the additional instructions (done via Linux). In the next day I will keep an eye on the "look and feel" and the functionality of my DM42. Cheers! Meino PS: The "blib" sounds which can be heard at several steps of ...

Re: DM42 License Statement

I have no use for the source code (nor all this fuss about it), so I'll just wait for the next normal firmware update and update as normal. I don't see the point of updating the firmware when there is no functional difference between the last firmware version and this new open source one. And after...

Re: DM42 License Statement

... I know, that the STM32F103 is nearly unbrickable as long as one dont plan exactly how to brick the chip. This is due to the bootloader being in the ROM and therefore not alterable. How is the situation when it comes to the DM42? That's the same with the STM32L476. On the PCB there are two butto...
