Re: Are many of you with the DM32 ?
I'm interested, but waiting for reviews and a final "release version" firmware to ensure the feature set meets my needs before buying, under the assumption that's all it will ever do. The DM41X hasn't had any updates in about 2.5 years, and is still missing some key functionality (e.g. ext...

Re: Collection of wishes for future SwissMicros products - discussion following Bob Prosperi's HHC 2022 talk
I think what SM is lacking is a really affordable model to make the new generations aware of RPN. With current prices only us-old-farts-who-know-RPN-from-many-moons-ago-and-have-deep-pockets are attracted, I'm afraid  Definitely. If they could produce a lower-cost (like $30-50 USD) two-line D...

Re: Collection of wishes for future SwissMicros products - discussion following Bob Prosperi's HHC 2022 talk
I'd really like to see HP-IL on the 41X, but not for interfacing with real hardware. I just want HP-IL module and storage emulation so you can mount LIF disk images on the FAT disk and have floppy/mass storage emulation. It's kind of bewildering that it's been almost 2 years since the 41X got any up...

Re: How to assess coin cell quality?
I use one of these resistance substitution boxes for testing coin cells:

Clip it to both leads of your multimeter to create a load on the battery, and see how the voltage fares in the 220-1000 Ohm range (3-14 mA current).

Re: Upgraded keypad
I just replaced the dome sheet on my 1st-batch 2017 DM42. It feels terrific now! The keys are almost totally silent, and have a soft but very definite tactile response. It actually feels very similar to some of the Pioneers I own, just with shorter throw. I think I might even switch back to this one...

Re: May 2022 Speculations
Count me interested. My wish list (pure speculation based on the video): - Lots of RAM (seems like it ought to be a given) - Bitwise operators - Algebraic/expression input mode like the 35S - Local labels (LBL 0-9 referenced only within the current letter/global label), or at the very least, line-nu...

Re: Software updates?
It has been remarkably solid, so credit where credit is due, but I know there are a few lingering issues, some of them display-related. Quite a few fixes and minor improvements have been talked up for the "next release".

Software updates?
Not to nag or anything, but I recall there were some neat features in the works for an upcoming release. Is there any news to share? We're closing in on the one-year anniversary of the current firmware release.

Re: DM42/Free 42 feature request: "User mode"
User mode would be very nice to have, though there is of course the question of how it would be activated on the DM42 keyboard, since it obviously can't be rearranged to accommodate an extra key. Maybe the F3 key when there is no menu open? That's the only thing I see that currently isn't mapped to ...

Re: How to prompt?
For prompting, I usually like this kind of pattern (assuming the value of R is stored in register 00): "R?" RCL 00 ARCL X PROMPT STO 00 This will display the "R?" prompt along with the current value of R, and the user can either enter a new value, or hit R/S to reuse the current ...
